When I Reached Kolkata
The moment I stepped into Kolkata,
I felt something warm.
It didn’t feel like a new city…
it felt like an old memory welcoming me back.
The air smelled of tea, rain, and old books.
People were moving slowly,
shops were opening,
and the city had this soft morning rhythm.
I felt like the city whispered,
“Come, walk with me. I will show you my stories.”
And that is how my Kolkata journey began.
Our First Stop: Victoria Memorial

A little history
Built around 1906 in memory of Queen Victoria.
It is made of white marble and looks like a peaceful palace.
How it felt to be there
When I walked inside the big garden,
a soft wind touched my face.
The white building looked calm,
like it was holding the history gently.
I sat on the grass for a few minutes.
It felt like life slowed down for me.
What I ate nearby
I had luchi and aloo dom from a small stall.
Simple food, but somehow it tasted like comfort.
The Book World of College Street

A little history
College Street started in the early 1800s
and today it is Asia’s largest book market.
My experience there
Books everywhere — small, big, old, new…
and the smell of paper felt like a warm hug.
It started raining suddenly,
but no one moved.
People covered their books with plastic
and continued searching for more.
I sat inside Coffee House,
the same place where poets, writers, thinkers once sat.
A cup of coffee…
old wooden chairs…
and the sound of people talking softly.
It felt like sitting inside history.
The Quiet Strength of Howrah Bridge

A little history
Built in 1943 with no nuts or bolts —
just pure engineering strength.
When I stood there
The river below was slow.
The bridge above was busy.
And I stood silently in the middle…
feeling both things at once —
the rush of life and the peace of water.
I ate Ghoti Gorom there —
chanachur mixed with mustard oil, lemon, and spices.
Perfect for riverside mood.
Princep Ghat: The Evening That Touched My Heart

A little history
Created in memory of James Prinsep in 1843.
Famous for peaceful evenings and Ganga views.
What I loved the most — the boats
Evening boats move slowly here.
The sound of water,
the orange sky,
and the soft rowing noise…
It felt like the river was singing.
I sat near the water for a long time.
No rush.
No noise.
Just the feeling of being alive.
If someone comes to Kolkata,
Princep Ghat is a place they must see.
Eco Park: Kolkata’s Soft, Green Hug

A little history
Opened in 2012.
One of India’s biggest city parks — full of greenery and lakes.
My day inside Eco Park
We walked near the lake,
took slow pictures,
cycled together,
visited the Japanese forest,
and just breathed fresh air.
There was no hurry.
Just moments.
I ate ice cream and fries —
nothing fancy,
but it tasted perfect in that calm weather.
Eco Park felt like a long, warm exhale.
Nicco Park: Where I Became a Child Again

A little history
Opened in 1991.
Kolkata’s favorite amusement park.
My moments there
From water rides
to roller coasters
to laughing till my stomach hurt…
Nicco Park reminded me that
joy can be loud, messy, and full of screams —
and that’s beautiful too.
I had pizza and cold drinks here,
and honestly, the fun made even normal food taste special.
